The Global Student Survey: What You Need to Know
The Global Student Survey provides the latest data on the attitudes, experiences and expectations of prospective
international students on a country-by-country basis. Find out what your institution needs to do – and to avoid – to best
position itself to attract the international students it seeks.
Beginning with a large-scale online survey of approximately 3,000 Indian youth aged 16 to 18 in spring 2011, the project will offer
higher education recruiters and admin- istrators reliable and thorough data on the attitudes, expectations and interests of students around
the world.
In 2011 alone, Higher Education Strategy Associates will administer the Global Student Survey to students in India, Russia, Mexico and China,
with more than 20 surveys planned for 2012 and beyond.
Priced individually at $1,500 or as a four-country package at the early-bird price of $4,500, the survey reports will provide data on the
latest trends in four key issue areas:
- Student demographics: family background, socio-economic status and geography.
- High school experience: favorite and least favorite subjects, courses taken, learning styles and academic performance, English language proficiency and standardized test performance.
- Attitudes about destinations: students’ opinions about specific cities, countries and institutions.
- Higher education expectations and plans: academic interests; attitudes about studying overseas, domestic institutions and foreign branch campuses; the educational decision-making process; sources of post-secondary education information; and expectations, fears and barriers to studying internationally.
